RUAH

Giulia Tomasello, 2012-2013

Through the Open Source philosophy, RUAH is an interactive corset controlled by Arduino.
Using the diaphragmatic breath, a stretch sensor catches the move of breath and send a feedback from lilypad to muscle wire, flexinol spring, that inflates and deforms the structure of the corset.
The dress is an immediate interface environment and space that surrounds it. Capable of transmitting and receiving feedback, constantly emotional experiences and their feelings of the wearer act just like a real second interactive skin.

BODY AS AN OBJECT AND DRESS AS A SECOND SKIN.
The knowledge that is created between body and space, we contrasted with a continuous sense of stillness and movement, opposite feelings that surround us and join up to ecstasy.
Through this interaction between user and bustier, he becomes conscious about his body and his breath.
A slow, controlled breathing helps to balance body and mind, increases sensory abilities and physical endurance, a practice simple and spontaneous, which is acquired only after a long workout.
