Already far in 2017… A nice follow up for our kombucha workshop. In ESTEC Noordwijk, Agata Kołodziejczyk (research fellow in the Advanced Concepts Team at European Space Agency (ESA) organized a workshop with kombucha and algae, lichen and moss. Ambitions are pretty high: colonize Mars! The goal ion Earth in Noordwijk was to create a living cell, which could be recycled and was self sufficient – and kept “green”, using kombucha.

After a week, the samples were not so alive anymore. Many factors should be taken into account, and also very clean working will be important. “Other things” might be more happy to grow than what we intend to grow…
