2 days event where everyone is welcome. We host a series of public workshops for beginners and intermediate Tinkerers. There will be also panel discussions where we invite everyone to talk about current issues, from technology to textile. We will also organize some artist talks, performances and presentations. We are hoping this event to become a connection point for the ones who have never touched etextile to the ones who work with them all the time, and the ones who visit Paillard from 1000km away to the ones who live just around the corner.
If you are interested in visiting the event, please visit the Summer Fest page and find out the details of how you can get there, and how you can stay.
As a part of the Summer Camp, we started organizing a small exhibition where all the participants bring one work of hers. This is because we often know the other’s work through photos on the internet, but never have actually seen the physical objects. The exhibition will be open to the public. The Vernissage will take place on the July 16th in the late afternoon (TBA).
The Summer School is aimed for people who are interested in etextiles but have not had access to introductory courses, or who have just started and would like to get more insights. We are planning 5 days of intensive hands-on workshops from materials basics to microcontroller programing and silk screen printing techniques. If you are interested in participating, you will need to apply for the open call and be accepted. For details, please visit the Summer School page.
The Paillard Centre d’Art is planning to open an etextile work space called “La Forge” as a permanent space. The idea is that La Forge acts as an etextile Fablab for the both, the local community and the international community of eTexilte practitioners. This year we are hosting just a few artists in residence to try out the setup of La Forge and see how it can further function as a space for etextile creation.
The Summer Camp will happen as a Summer Camp as usual, just like the last 5 years. We are gathering about 30 expert practitioners from the fields of etextiles to exchange knowledge, share skills through hands-on workshops and engage in discourse around current topics. For more details, please see the Summer Camp website.
