The eTextile SummerSchool offers time and space to learn about electronic textiles in a series of one-day workshops held by practitioners from the field. These workshops will span knowledge and skill from traditional crafts and basic electronics to programming microcontrollers, screenprinting and actuating thermochromic pigments, designing on-body electronics and producing textile circuitboards.

The school is run as part of the Summer of eTextiles. It is intended for beginners or individuals with partial knowledge, who want to spend a week together, living and learning in the remote countryside of France. While the workshops are self-contained, they are curated to cover a range of basic and specialized eTextile techniques. Please see the workshop descriptions for more details.

We will accept around 10-15 students. The workshops will take place Monday July 24th to Friday July 28th 2017, from 9am – 5/6pm, with evening activities scheduled on some days. From here you can catch a train to VENDOME TGV station where we will pick you up by car.

The weekend before SummerSchool starts will be the eTextile SummerFestival which is open to the public and a great opportunity to experience the summerCamp community. If SummerSchool participants would like to join for the festival, we recommend they arrive in Paillard either Friday afternoon (July 21st) or Saturday morning (July 22nd).
If not coming for the festival, participants should plan to arrive by Sunday night (July 23rd).

NOTE: We are not sure yet if we will be able to provide participants with accommodation for the nights of the festival, in which case you would need to camp or book a room with a local Bed and Breakfast. We will have more details on this by the time the application process closes.

The Summer School will end with a BBQ on the evening of Friday July 28th and departure will happen throughout the day of Saturday July 29th.
